Why TV Has Contributed So Substantially To My Quality of Life

At some point during the summer I came to the conclusion that the Discovery Channel had covertly grabbed my invisible trophy for Indispensable Cable Channel. You got your Deadliest Catch. You got your Mythbusters, a show which -- despite occasional slips in its scientific method -- compensates with nearly limitless amounts of unbridled awesome. You got your Man vs. Wild, which -- controversy notwithstanding -- gives us Bear Grylls' cheerily British joy for life juxtaposed with his willingness to give himself hypothermia and drink urine. And then there's the hilariously understated, surprisingly thoughtful, dulcet-toned Mike Rowe, who has held a virtual lock on the title of Official TV Boyfriend for the Jejune Household for quite some time while also inspiring me to revisit my entire Faith No More catalog.

I've actually forgotten where I was going with this post, except to say that I would totally buy a Katsak from the man.

Nicely put: 'Official TV Boyfriend' for Mike Rowe. Don't we just love his easy manner, fearless spirit of adventure and self effacing sense of humor. Too young probably for my boyfriend but the brother or cousin figure would do. Just so he was always connected to the family and you could always count on an enjoyable annual visit. He was in Pottsville PA in the coal mine once. That is as close as I have come.

He was in Madison to work with a septic tank technician. He seemed to be a very Madison guy.
