Katie SMASH!

I don't tend to think of myself as a particularly high-energy person, besides the talking quickly thing. But today is the second day that I've managed to break one of my glass rings from the Carrotbox in the process of, apparently, waving my hands around while teaching and occasionally smacking the book for emphasis.

This bums me out, because I can no longer in good conscience buy more glass or stone rings -- today I managed to break through the bottom of a significantly thick band, and fragment the sides into little crumbles. I guess I should be happy that it I didn't smash it with such force that it completely exploded, sending glittering little shards of glass across the center of the classroom. Because while that would inspire the kind of respect and awe that I wouldn't mind receiving from my students, it would probably also kill discussion for the rest of the semester.

Maybe just stick to Lucite in professional situations. Oh, wait! You could knit a perl one!

OK, sorry about that...I'm better now.

Be warned of jade rings in every day use. All six colors of jade are very brittle, thus crack under the stress test of vigorous educational standards. don't give up the standards.
