Part of my moving preparations consist of making the most of the free laundry in our current apartment (ugh, I originally typed that as appartement -- it's too early to be putting on Frenchy-Canadian airs!) and washing everything that I can possibly wash before it's packed. Today I took the opportunity to clean out the refillable catnip mouse that Pete's mom brought by during Thanksgiving. Instead of looking all fluffy and cute like the one pictured in the above link, six months of intense Sebastian-y love have left it all squashed flat and matted with kitty saliva. So, I cleaned out the powdery macerated catnip remains from the center and gave it a brief rinse in the sink, hanging it on a hook in our bedroom for it to dry out before laundry day.
Five minutes later, I walked by the bedroom to see Sebastian 'nipped out of his mind. He didn't know how, and he didn't know why, but he'd managed to find himself lying on the floor beneath a randomly-occurring catnip-infused water drip. So, for one blissful hour, he went through a cycle: drip, lick-lick-lick, eyes dilate, writhe around tweakily, repeat. We would both recommend the catnip-infused drip trick for endless amusement for both you and your beloved felines.
