Daphne and Delilah

Materials: Leftover Knitpicks Comfy Worsted (75% Pima Cotton, 25% Acrylic) in Silver Sage and Marlin. Size 3 circular needles and DPNs. Pattern: Daphne and Delilah the Momma and Baby Monster from Danger Crafts.

Time: A couple of weeks.

Cost: Handmade items are priceless, you know.

Daphne and Delilah are a stash-busting present for a baby shower — it’s a cute pattern, and thematically appropriate.

Toys aren’t normally my favorite knitting genre, because working the fiddly bits (casting on 6 stitches in the round, for example) in cotton on too-small needles isn’t my favorite thing in the world. Besides that, however, this pattern was smooth sailing.

I bought a bunch of safety eyes from 6060 and I’m really pleased with them — they make for a really polished-looking finished product. Unfortunately, the only felt that I could find for the mouths was pretty chintzy and see-through, but what can you do? I put Pete in charge of cutting out the mouths and gluing them on, and I kind of like the resultant underbite.

These Monsters are the best! And…they get into just as much trouble as they look like they would! (Especially Baby Monster! He likes to run amok!) lol!
