As I think I've explained before - sometimes I just end up at these places without a clue about how I got there. · 6:24 PM · If there's one thing that I learned from the Gender Test last week, it's that everybody loves filling out forms. The Abductalizer is an extremely amusing one page quiz that calculates your PAAF, or Personal Abduction Analysis Factor, in inscrutable terms of Æ, þ, and µ. Make sure to check out the company's main page afterwards. · 6:06 PM · I downloaded Netscape 6.01 yesterday. Despite being a memory hog (and running a little sluggishly on my machine), it's been stable, correctly interprets a lot of those neato CSS things that are usually ignored, and a big improvement over 4.08. However, Bad Things Happened when I inserted an extra closing tag into a post earlier today, causing Blogger to condense each successive post into an uneditable mass of malformed code that I couldn't correct or reach using Safe Mode. Fortunately, IE interpreted it better and let me fix things. The consensus? Recommended, with reservations. · 5:19 PM · designtobedifferent.com - one of those ridiculously creative personal / professional showcase sites that makes me want to change everything on Jejune to unformatted default black Times New Roman text on a white background out of reverence. · 1:39 PM · And people wonder why I decorate my room with old LP covers. (Note: I have David Carroll's "Latin Percussion" up, which has a different lady on the cover but every ounce of zest.) [via Kerplink] · 1:39 PM · So what's it like to jump off the Golden Gate bridge? Well, you can read about the people who try it, the people who succeed, and the grisly aftermath. · 1:39 PM · Wednesday, February 7
If you know any hardcore Trey Parker and Matt Stone fans, you might have seen their lesser-known '97 opus Orgazmo, a heartwarming tale of porn-star superherodom. Even if not, you'll be interested to know that somebody has inadvertently invented the Orgazmorator. · 6:31 PM · Idle thought of the day - will French cuffed jeans ever return to the popular consciousness in any way, shape, or form? And if so, how crazy would things have to get before I'd start wearing them again? · 12:47 PM · Tuesday, February 6
During the past few hours I have received several recommendations to buy some religious action figures, which I can only pass on to you. · 9:36 PM · "One of my more recent mini-hobbies seems to be shooting things in front of a Handycam with a high-speed shutter, then making JPEGs and QuickTime movies out of the results" - Joseph's Innocent Inanimate Objects page. Short, dynamic, and to the point - even better with a fast connection. (Don't miss the cabbage.) · 2:13 PM · Monday, February 5
With the large amount of useless crap on the internet, you'd think that there'd be more than one decent online I Ching reading generator - especially when you see the number of sites about it. · 11:16 PM · Catherine's Pita has been photo-happy recently, what with the advent of her new digital camera, and this is a Good Thing. The pictures from outside her work window were enough to give me vertigo - I've never been in a building that tall. · 10:23 PM · Something to send to my parents - yes, even the Times says that HTML e-mail sucks. Also - the (relative) return of the Generation [Letter] label, which I was quite happy not hearing as much of recently. · 10:19 PM · As a valued reader of Jejune.net, I presume that you have better things to do with your Thursday nights than watch certain so-called reality TV shows. Nevertheless, it's still interesting to browse the bland profiles to see what "luxury items" Real People decided to bring to the deserted Six easy ways to make your own boomerang from easy-to-find household materials. Certainly worth your consideration, especially if you feel adventurous during your more boring lectures or meetings. · 10:02 PM · Sunday, February 4
The hot question of today, finally answered - what's the difference between a fruit and a vegetable, and how do tomatoes fit into this continum? It turns out that seeds are part of the answer, but nuts are the really tricky area. · 11:40 PM · Vegetarian Katie should probably be eating more protein. My unofficial motto for tomorrow will be "everything's better with peanut butter!" · 11:32 PM · |

· More school, more people, more things to do, more fun. ("More work" will replace all of the above in September.) · Endless summer reruns of "Whose Line Is It, Anyway?". It beats the hell out of sitcoms. · The Super Nissan's new radiator. Unlike the old one, it works. · Karate, Cancel/Sing · Tullycraft, Beat/Surf/Fun · Hum, Downward Is Heavenward · Seaworthy, The Ride · Shiner, The Egg · The Anniversary, Your Majesty · Betty Friedan, The Feminine Mystique · Ernest Hemingway, The Sun Also Rises · Cameron Tuttle, The Bad Girl's Guide to the Open Road · Isaac Asimov, Second Foundation · Simon Winchester, The Professor and the Madman: A Tale of Murder, Insanity, and the Making of the Oxford English Dictionary Permalinks cleverly masquerade as the asterisk dividers under each entry. |
