Madder Ribbed Sock

More Bearfoot socks.

Materials: 2 skeins Mountain Colors Bearfoot (60% Superwash Wool, 25% Mohair, 15% Nylon) in Flathead Cherry. Size 1 dpns. Pattern: Madder Ribbed Sock from Knitting Vintage Socks.

Time: Two months?

Cost: $18

I had a lot of leftovers from the Rib and Cable socks that I made with my first batch of Bearfoot, so I wanted to knit a longer sock with my other two skeins. I've learned the hard way about combining busy patterns with loud colors, so I chose a simple ribbed sock from my trusty copy of Knitting Vintage Socks and cast on.

In graceful recline.

The knitting was uneventful -- great yarn, great pattern. Still, I think that I'm going to hold off on more Bearfoot socks until I get a chance to see how they wear next winter. The yarn's mohair does make my feet and legs itch a bit, and the fuzziness of the yarn seems to encourage rapid felting of the heel and foot. We'll see -- I'm gathering quite a collection of woolen socks.

For what it's worth, I find the ribbing quite dapper.
