Surprisingly cheap, questionably fashionable, and warm.
Materials: 1 skein Noro Kureyon; size 7 DPNs. Pattern from Stitch ‘n’ Bitch Nation.Time: 1 week.
Cost: $10
My original wrist warmers have served me well, so I decided that it was time for an update. The pattern in Stitch 'n' Bitch Nation looked cute and seemed like a relatively inexpensive way to try out the Kureyon that everyone loves so much.
Poking around on some online forums revealed that the project requires barely two skeins of Kureyon. Because I am fundamentally really, really cheap, I bought one ball (thus halving the total cost!) and wound it into approximately equal smaller balls, one for each armwarmer. (A scale would be even better for this.) Then, I cut down on the amount of ribbing on top and on bottom of each warmer, and ended up with barely enough yarn. Victory!
If it matters any, I didn't reverse the cable chart like the pattern recommends. These armwarmers come further down my hand than I expected, which is great; they're also surprisingly snug (or it's also possible that I have large-ish hands), especially around the thumb. I'll let you know how they function once it's actually, you know, spring around here.
I had the hardest time following the cable pattern chart. I ripped it out twice and finally decided to just make up my own cable. Did you have any troubles with it? Yours looks great.
