The Saga comes to an end.

Materials: 2 skeins Brown Sheep Lamb’s Pride Worsted (85% wool, 15% Mohair) in Jack’s Plum (M29); 1 skein in Creme (M10); size 2 DPNs. Pattern from Folk Mittens.

Time: 2 months.

After making two left-handed mittens, I bought another skein of purple yarn and worked on two right-hand mittens. (One pair is my mom's next Christmas present.) Although I still love working on mittens -- they're faster than socks, and more visible -- I think I'm ready to give them a rest for some time.

Although I used needles one size smaller than the recommended size, I had no problems with fit. Working with worsted-weight yarn on size 2 needles can cramp up your hands, though. And despite the problems working with a loosely spun, fuzzy yarn like Lamb's Pride at such a small gauge -- stitches split, and small loops of yarn will escape if you're not careful -- I really like the overall finished look.

What remains to be seen is how warm they'll be in winter. I seriously doubt that they can stand up to some serious Wisconsin windchill, but at least I'll be able to use them at the edges of winter. The same book does also have a pattern for thrummed mittens, though...

those mittens are wonderful! and two pair -- yikes.

but i couldn't spot the mistake on any of the palms -- it was like a 'where's waldo' for knitters... i feel like i'm permanently cross-eyed now

Oh, they are so beutiful. Really wonderful, makes me want to finish my pair (or start all over coz the one I made is to small). And you made to, great! You mom will be thrilled!
